FlexIS Multi-Cam Feeder software helps to increase pack rates and improves production planning
June 27th, 2008
May / June 2008 — The Multi-Cam Feeder software for the FlexIS control system creates the possibility for a customer to produce containers of various weight on different sections of the same NIS, AIS or IS machine. When using the multi-cam mode, users are not limited to running the same cam/height/stroke combination for each running section. In a multi-cam configuration, the cam/height/stroke can be set individually. Multi-cam jobs can be created, controlled and monitored from a single screen.
The Multi-Cam software for the FlexIS is the versatile basis to run multiple jobs of different variations on one machine. Having the ability for multi job runs allows for optimal production planning. This means that even smaller container lot sizes are produced in a cost effective way. The possibility to trial a new bottle design on one section without jeopardizing the running production also minimizes the job losses due to sampling.
First tests were very successful. After the ongoing, full exploration of the systems capabilities, the software will be available as a commercial FlexIS product. The necessary settings for running a multi-weight job, however, strongly depend on the current process settings and therefore it is the user who builds up the know how to optimize the settings needed for a certain job mix.
