July / August 2008 — Vision ring inspection is now available for the Emhart Inex Veritas iM multi-station inspection machine. Designed to be installed at any of the machine’s three rotate stations, vision ring inspection uses a high-resolution camera with LED backlighting to measure finish T and E dimensions as the container rotates in place. Unlike mechanical, go/no-go ring gauges, the vision ring gauge provides precise measurement of the container finish without touching the container finish. The vision ring inspection option bases its inspection on multiple images of the finish as it rotates and permits the use of multiple inspection zones with independent inspection characteristics. When the Veritas iM is equipped with vision ring inspection on a line that also includes the Veritas iB with the vision plug and dip inspection options, mechanical plug, ring, and dip head tooling can be eliminated, thereby offering complete, non-contact finish inspection.
